Since September 2015 all children in Years 1 to 6 follow the new National Primary Curriculum.

A helpful booklet about the new National Curriculum can be found via this link (Click Here)

The curriculum will continue to be taught across the school through a thematic approach for the foundation subjects. These include History, Geography, Music, Art and Design Technology, with other subjects being incorporated where there is a clear link. Children's learning experiences will also be enhanced through visits and visitors coming into school, relevant to the theme or curriculum area being studied. Below you can find an overview of topics taught in each year group. We will also continue to send out termly leaflet so that you know what is being taught in your child's year group.

In our school we recognise that learning consists of:

• Acquiring knowledge

• Understanding ideas

• Perfecting skills

• Developing good attitudes.

In order for this to take place the children must:

• Become involved with things that interest them

• Be active in their learning

• Be encouraged to work with each other

• Make progress and be challenged in each area of learning

Be encouraged to think and act for themselves and become  independent
