Educational Visits

Visits play an essential role in our work and take place on a regular basis. These vary from places in the locality for instance the library, Arrowe Park and Barnston Dale to residential trips for children in years 5 and 6 to Colomendy and Ireland.

Home Learning

St Michael’s has a policy of providing home learning opportunities that are enjoyable, manageable and interesting. Children throughout the school are encouraged to read at home for at least 10 minutes on a daily basis. It is also expected that parents and staff will write comments in their reading diary when a child is heard reading.

Sports Funding

In April 2013, the government announced funding of £150 million for P.E. and sport in primary schools.  For information regarding how we have spent our sports funding, please click on the 'sports funding' page on the website.

As a school we are using the funding to improve the provision of P.E. and sport.

We thought as a school about the breath of sport and P.E. opportunities we offer.  After consultation with school council about the types of sports/P.E.  equipment they would like the money to be used for they agreed on a climbing wall.  A high quality climbing wall has been purchased giving the children a new exciting sports skill/opportunity.

We are also using some of the money to provide after-school sports clubs, with specialist sports coaches.  The clubs are reviewed half termly.
