Our School Awards

As a school we have worked hard to achieve a number of awards that we are very proud of.

The Inclusion Quality Mark

Please follow the link below to read the report we received.

INCLUSION QUALITY MARK REPORT

The report states ‘Pupils are friendly and polite. I met with a delightful group of children who told me all about their School and what it is like to be a pupil at St Michael and All Angels. When asked what the best thing about the school is, the unanimous response was about how friendly and caring everyone is.’

‘St Michael and All Angels Catholic Primary School pupils are delightful. They demonstrate genuine acceptance and tolerance of others. They welcome children who join from other schools or countries with open hearts and minds. They are caring towards each other, and their behaviour is excellent during lessons and unstructured times.’

Every single child’s happiness and progress is valued by the staff at St Michael and All Angels. There is a shared understanding amongst staff that learning can only take place once children feel safe, secure, loved, nurtured and valued. Pupils enjoy attending school and their behaviour is excellent. They respond positively to the consistent inclusive approaches of the staff.’

School of Sanctuary

We are very proud to be a School of Sanctuary and welcome everyone to our school as equal members of the community.

‘A School of Sanctuary is a school that is committed to being a safe and welcoming place for those seeking sanctuary. This could be people whose lives were in danger in their own country, who have troubles at home or are just looking for a space of safety. A School of Sanctuary is a school that helps its students, staff and wider community understand what it means to be seeking sanctuary and to extend a welcome to everyone as equal, valued members of the school community. It is a school that is proud to be a place of safety and inclusion for all.’

Our school is a wonderful place to be with our caring pupils, compassionate staff and strong Community links. Everyone is welcome and we are all friends at St. Michael and All Angels. We strive to follow our School Motto - ‘Love others as Jesus loves you’.

Eco-School’s Green Flag Award

We are delighted to be recognised as an ‘Eco Green Flag’ school.

Our Eco Warriors care deeply about environmental issues and have a strong desire to actively protect our planet - ‘Our Common Home’. The Eco-Schools programme provides a simple, seven-step framework that answers this question whilst empowering young people to make a difference in their school, local community and beyond. After working through the seven Eco-Schools steps during the academic year, schools, colleges and nurseries can apply for an Eco-Schools Green Flag accreditation.

The Eco School’s Team who judged our application provided us with some wonderful and very detailed feedback which ended ‘Congratulations to everyone for the great work you have managed to do, earning your Green Flag with style. You should all be very proud of your work and the application you have submitted!’

primary science quality mark

Close to 200 Primary Science Quality Marks have been awarded to infant, junior, primary, middle and special schools this year to celebrate their commitment to excellence in science teaching and learning.

PSQM enables confident, knowledgeable, reflective leadership which results in an improvement in the way in which science is planned and taught across the whole school.

platinum school games mark

We have been awarded the PLATINUM School Games Award. This is an
incredible achievement that has been 7 years of hard work. A school cannot achieve the Platinum Award until they
have achieved the GOLD School Games Award for 5 years and this
took us a little longer due to covid. The Platinum Award celebrates
schools who have shown consistently high levels of enthusiasm and
commitment to school sport. To achieve the gold award a school
must meet a certain set of criteria, which includes engaging a high
percentage of young people in both curricular and extracurricular activities, participating in a minimum number of competitions across different sports, and reaching out to target groups including those previously identified as the school’s least-active pupils.

GOLD school games mark

The school has been successful in achieving the Gold School Games Mark for 5 consecutive years. To do this we had to demonstrate we are/have:

  • maintained and grown the school’s engagement in the School Games and the delivery of 60 active minutes for every child

  • created positive experiences by ensuring physical activity and competition provision is designed to reflect the motivation, competence and confidence of your young people and has a clear intent

  • a clear focus on transition points and how secondary schools engage in the School Games

  • created positive experiences to support character development of targeted young people

  • advocated to key stakeholders how the School Games makes a meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people, including engaging and educating parents.
